2. Data We Collect
We collect the minimal amount of data necessary to provide our service.
A. Uploaded Files
PDF files uploaded by users are processed temporarily to extract key structure. They are not permanently stored on our servers unless explicitly saved to the public library by an admin.
B. Specimen Images
Images uploaded for comparison or reference are stored locally in your browser session or temporarily processed via local OCR.
C. Contact Information
If you contact us via email or form, we use your email address solely to respond to your inquiry.
D. Usage Data
We use Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymous statistics about website usage (pages visited, session duration) to improve user experience.
3. Data Processing
We use the Nemotron Nano 9B V2 model to process text and structure dichotomous keys.
- Text segments from uploaded PDFs are sent securely for digitization.
- Processing is done respecting user privacy.
4. Data Retention
Session data (identification history) is stored in your browser's local storage and is cleared when you clear your cache or explicitly reset the session.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. Data is shared only with necessary service providers:
- Supabase (Database & Storage)
- OpenRouter (Nemotron Processing)
- Google Analytics (Anonymous Stats)
